Fricken phishers/scammers/spammers
You all get them, they used to come from Nigeria, but now seem to be from just about anywhere. I used to just delete them and ignore it, but lately I’ve taken to sending nasty replies just for the fun of it.
Today’s example:
“I lost my parents in a ghasty road accident few months ago in which my mother, my little brother and Carol my junior sister died instantly but my father was hospitalised few days before he gave up..(cropped out stuff)..there were some documents he secretly directed to me about his investment budget worth of US$12.4 million dollars which he deposited”
Uhm yeah, sure. The response I emailed back to ‘her’?
“I hope your real parents are rotting in hell being raped daily by Satan himself you fucking worthless piece of dog shit.”
So far I’ve never received a follow up from any of these people. It’s too bad. I might just have to play along next time.

LMAO!! I would have never thought of that. That’s great.
June 28th, 2007 at 10:21 pmThanks for the laugh! I’m glad I wasn’t drinking anything at the time.
June 29th, 2007 at 12:44 amYou gotta be careful responding to these bozos.
Unfortunately, emailing them back confirms that they hit a “live” email address, and can end up getting you more spam in the long run.
Not that I don’t have the same reaction you do; but I hate increasing my spam…
June 29th, 2007 at 12:13 pmOne of my tasks for work is to manually go through our spam filter. (we get like 5000 spam msgs a day that get caught and only like 20 are legitimate that need to be forwarded).
Anyway we get a lot of these: ‘I recently received 10.4Million USD from my uncle’s father’s brother’s nefew who recently died…blahblahblah
I personally know someone who actually sent people money in an effort to help them relocate the funds. Let’s just say they are out $5000 now and I am not quite sure they have learnt their lesson either!
July 3rd, 2007 at 9:28 amI wish this was the kind of spam I received. Everyone always wants for me to buy some drugs online or pick up my prescription of Viagra with their website. And all the e-mail messages are images now, what’s up with that?
Funny stuff, thanks for the laugh.
July 4th, 2007 at 11:10 amKaty: I would guess that spam filters can’t detect words in an image like they do in regular text email, so spammers are using images now to sneak past the filters. And yeah, I get tons of that kind of spam too, but it doesn’t infuriate me like the others do, trying to prey on people’s kindness and greed.
July 4th, 2007 at 12:03 pmMy fav spam memory;
I was checking my mail at the same time as one of my female friends… I was solicited with a magic pill for breast enhancement, and she with a pill for penis enlargement. We were both quite amused.
