My fav spam memory;

I was checking my mail at the same time as one of my female friends… I was solicited with a magic pill for breast enhancement, and she with a pill for penis enlargement. We were both quite amused.

Katy: I would guess that spam filters can’t detect words in an image like they do in regular text email, so spammers are using images now to sneak past the filters. And yeah, I get tons of that kind of spam too, but it doesn’t infuriate me like the others do, trying to prey on people’s kindness and greed.

I wish this was the kind of spam I received. Everyone always wants for me to buy some drugs online or pick up my prescription of Viagra with their website. And all the e-mail messages are images now, what’s up with that?

One of my tasks for work is to manually go through our spam filter. (we get like 5000 spam msgs a day that get caught and only like 20 are legitimate that need to be forwarded).

Anyway we get a lot of these: ‘I recently received 10.4Million USD from my uncle’s father’s brother’s nefew who recently died…blahblahblah

I personally know someone who actually sent people money in an effort to help them relocate the funds. Let’s just say they are out $5000 now and I am not quite sure they have learnt their lesson either!

You gotta be careful responding to these bozos.

Unfortunately, emailing them back confirms that they hit a “live” email address, and can end up getting you more spam in the long run.

Not that I don’t have the same reaction you do; but I hate increasing my spam…
