I Want a new TV

DVI is so outdated, it’s really only used for computer to LCD monitor connections these days but even that is going to fade out. A new GeForce 8600GT that I sold this week has DVI/HDMI/Component connections on it and I expect that as time goes on, HDMI will become a standard feature. I’ve tried hooking the PC up to my TV’s DVI plug, but then I can’t seem to get it out of 640×480 mode, must be a setting I’m missing somewhere.

I briefly had a PS3 to mess around with a couple weeks ago, but i wasn’t impressed by it. There are some games I’d like to play that I can’t get on the 360, not many though, but since I only had the basic AV cable the graphics were looking pretty bad. I know someone who has it connected to a plasma TV using HDMI cables and he says it looks amazing. Someday I’ll have some extra coin to drop on a shiny new 1080p TV, but in the meantime my 53″ projection model will have to do.
