Microsoft 8 Release Date

i’m just only getting used to Windows 7 and everyone had been talking about the release date of Windows 8 for a few months now. Scheduled to be released in 2012 – it is said that a beta version had been out for months now and real folks are in the testing mode and will be released once it had all been tested. Windows 8 is said to combined the desktop, laptop and tablet operating system together – so one can use it on your tablet or your tv at home. Boasting also to be used for gaming machines – thus far no other operating system has done that. Check out the preview below to give you a better idea.

Windows 7 Starter

So we just bought a netbook with Windows 7 Starter on it – we are so used to our Windows Vista in our old netbook – we find that the Starter comes with limitations. You see you can’t even change it’s wallpaper for one and you can only run concurrent applications on a PC at a time (this excludes background processes such as anti-virus applications, wireless and Bluetooth, and system tools like Explorer and Control Panel). So yes – i don’t know what we are planning to do with it – but i’m stopping my rant here to run out and get some natural prenatal vitamins for my best friend. But an upgrade is most likely to happen anytime soon – i’m going to have to read up more on it.

Wanna listen to sports like ESPN while you are traveling home from work in an hour’s long ride on the train..?? I would need appetite suppressant to keep me from munching on junks. But now you can keep yourself occupied because ESPN has launched a new application for the iPhone, ESPN Radio, which is now available on the App Store. As the name implies, the application will give you access to audio streams of ESPN content including popular shows, station streams, play-by-play broadcasts, podcasts and SportsCenter updates which are uploaded every 20 minutes.

Super Cars

Happened across a cool blog today that is just loaded with information on super cars; Ferrari, Audi, Buggati, Lamborghini and dozens more. Only the fastest and coolest cars will be found here with news articles, inside information and drool-worthy pictures. I’ll never be able to afford a machine like those, but I can always dream, and race them in video games =)

My Xbox is Talking about Me

In a strange but entertaining turn of events, my XBox 360 is blogging about me behind my back! Karma and all that I guess, so it’s a good thing I never said anything bad about my 360 =) Give your xbox a voice and see what it has to say about you and your gaming habits.

www.360voice.com is a great place for Xbox live users to hang out and see how they stack up against other users. Since I don’t play a lot and my gamer score is only 2945, I’m currently ranked #71,042 overall. Looks like I’ve got some catching up to do, but on 2 hours or less a day it’s going to be a tough battle!

PostieCon ’08

Last year, the first annual PostieCon was held in Las Vegas to correspond with the Bloggers Choice Awards. This year however, they will be holding it in Orlando, FL. It makes it easier to plan and easier for all the employees to attend, although for the posties it may not be quite the same. We didn’t get to go last year, just wasn’t enough time to plan for it and set money aside. This year, perhaps we’ll be able to attend. Too bad we won’t be able to stay in a Vegas hotel and check out the strip. Orlando is a probably better in the long run though, we’d be able to take the brat to Disney Land since I’m sure we’ll be dragging her along with us if we do any traveling.

The biggest problem with trying to make money online lies in trying to sort out the scams from the legit methods. There are tons of places promising that you can make thousands of dollars a month by working just a few minutes a day. Sadly, this just isn’t the case and like the old adage goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Luckily for us, there are a few good resources out there to let us know which are good and which are bad. One of the newest such Money blogs is AndrewTalk.com. The layout is nice and simple without any garish flashing colors and nonsense. Andrew gets right to the point and provides many useful tips on new and existing ways to earn a living online.

Just having a blog or website isn’t enough if you want to earn the big bucks. You need lots of traffic and a high page rank to get the best jobs. AndrewTalk.com knows this and provides information on ways to help boost your traffic. If you’re serious about making money from home, you would do well to go check it out.

Free Piano Lessons

I’ve never been good with musical instruments although I really wish I could play something. A while back I got a keyboard pretty cheap for the wife, and since it has a training thing built in I decided to give it a shot. I still can’t play a note or read a note, but I did memorize half a song.

It’s all about discipline though, if I could force myself to sit down and study properly I’m sure I could learn to play & read something. There’s a great piano chords blog which contains a lot of information about music and how to play piano, especially chords. It’s easier than guitar, for me anyway, with guitar I can’t get my fingers to stretch properly although it’s my favorite instrument.

A fairly new company in the paid blogging world is Smorty. Advertisers can create an account with Smorty and then pay bloggers (like me) to write sponsored reviews for them. These reviews can be about nearly anything covering topics from cell phones to web-hosting services. Even though I’ll be paid to write some of the posts from now on, I’ll still be giving my honest opinion on the subject at hand. I won’t be promoting anything that I don’t agree with.

Bloggers can earn money from Smorty simply by signing up and submitting their blog. Once the blog is approved, when you log in there will be assignments listed on the right-hand side of the home page that you can choose from. If there’s nothing interesting, just check back later, assignments change regularly. The more you blog with Smorty the better it gets!

If you blog, then why not get get paid for blogging? I don’t expect to get rich from it, but if it can help me pay for some computer upgrades once in a while then I’m all for it =)

I’ve been bad?

I’ve been a bad boy. I got my wife in trouble and now she’s mad at me.

A few days ago, without properly considering my actions, I made a post on a public forum. In this post I listed a certain blog address which was violating the terms of service for a paid blogging site. This blog is suspended and a lot of people think it’s my fault. But seriously, do you really think the people at this paid blogging site move so quickly? Someone else must have reported it long ago. The reply I got was basically “Thanks but this blog has already been suspended. You’re not the first to report it.”

For the record, I said absolutely nothing about this bloggers english skills, I simply said they weren’t bothering to write interim posts between paid advertisements. Word for word, here is what I had written: “I’m so sick of this crap.. here’s another one that doesn’t even bother with interim posts”

I personally have no problem with the english, I’ve seen and understood far worse. I have a problem with the fact that whenever I take an opp, I have to write the opp and then take the time to write a regular post before I can take another opp. By simply writing paid post after paid post, this person can take twice as many opps as me (or anyone else who is following the rules) and that just isn’t fair.

These two parts of the Terms of Service are very clear and very easy to understand.

“paidblogging Opportunity-related posts may not appear consecutively on your Blog. Each paidblogging Opportunity post must be separated by at least one non-sponsored, original content, post.”

“Blogs that exist solely for payment will not be accepted.”

Perhaps THAT is why this blogger got suspended. Perhaps the employees who review the paid posts finally realized that there were no interim posts.

How do I know that a mob is forming against me? My wife has been yelling at me since yesterday, showing me comments and posts and screaming things like “Look what you’ve done to me!” and “These were my blogger friends!”

So to those of you who are blaming my wife, she had nothing to do with it and that’s why I’m sleeping in the bathtub this week. I am not sorry I did it, I am sorry she got stuck in the middle. So to keep face (with my wife) I will mind my own business. I will bite my tongue and tie my fingers. I’m sure someone else will continue to file reports where necessary.

Fechr (pronounced feature) is a new internet promotion site that can really make a difference in the traffic you get. Each day it will feature one website or blog for a full 24 hours. It’s an interesting idea and I think there’s a good chance it will take off and do well, unlike recent similar ventures that tanked after just a few days. Anyone know or remember linkbidr? I had written about them on Gator Byte. By featuring a full blog and not just a link, Fechr has more of what’s needed to keep people coming back; to see what’s new without clicking through link after link.

Currently it’s free! Once their daily traffic gets a little higher there will be a small charge to get featured but compared to what other services charge, it will still be well worth it.

Grrrr payperpost, why do you forsake us?

Looks like there’s getting to be some decent new opps coming up these days on payperpost, but argh!, they’re for US residents only??!? Irritating! The one for the movie 1408, US only. New one this week for Reno 911! Miami, also US only. I own a rental store, Reno 911 is available here in Canada too, duhhh. And last I checked, a lot of the people who read this are in the states.

See all those little white dots scattered all over the states? Yeah, me too.

Hopefully PPP can convince the studios to let people outside the US take these posts as well. I guess part of the issue is that some of them are offering prizes and stuff and there are export laws to consider. But, I don’t care about the prizes, I’d be more than happy with the $8 just for being able to write the post.

Slowly getting everything set up on the new host and trying to learn wordpress at the same time. Luckily it has a handy import feature that gathered up all my previous posts for me, that made things go a little quicker. I’ll probably be trying out different templates as I go until I find one that I really like. So far I like this one, but need to make some changes to it still.

I started this blog with the intention to mostly blog about my gaming and some computer stuff in general. I also plan to sign up on some of the “get paid to blog” services, cause hell, I could use some extra spending cash, whether it’s to help with bills or save up for new upgrades. Over the next couple months you can expect to see some sponsored posts showing up, but I’ll do my best to keep them gaming/computer related whenever possible.
