Truly amazing ! after I saw the above video – I am in awe! I can imagine the amount of information my kid can get when she reaches high school. I’m all for the iBook 2 – with textbooks for only $14.99 or less – you definitely cannot beat that price. Gone will be the days where children carry heavy text books to school – I loved the idea and so will you. Apple definitely has the world in its fingers – afterall there will always be students around the world.

A tablet made just for kids and covered with rubber all around it to protect the tablet from being destroyed from dropping it on the ground by your kids. Interesting but the price is not cheap either at about $233 U.S. dollars – would it be better to buy a regular tablet for you kid? or do a parent buy it just because it is quite destroy proof? The tablet will come in 3 sizes – 7 inch, 8 inch and 9 inches and all has a camera attached but only with a 2MP resolution. Battery should last like 6hrs and parents can blocked sites that they don’t want their children to be on. Said to be available for sale in UK in July 2012 – I wonder when it will be available in Canada.

Re-organizing For Tax Time

It may be near Christmas now – but the end of the year is also coming – so with some money left – I’m looking into getting the scanner software that the spouse had been talking about for ages – to reorganize my paper work for tax time. I think it would be an awesome investment because it just came to light – about a few months ago – that I still have an outstanding bill with a telephone company – when we moved our store to our present location. You see, we never did received any notice from the company – till a collection agency called up and looking up for the said bill to verify if it was paid took me more than a month – because my paperwork from 3 years ago were in storage. Now if I had that scanner software – surely, it would take just a number or a name of the telephone company to bring up all my files. It would definitely saved me a lot of time too – hunting down the papers. So yes, I’m reorganizing and spending a little on the scanner software which would definitely save me a lot of work in the future.

A Monster Of A Computer

A customer was in to sell – his very expensive gaming computer – it cost him like $7000 a year to build it – but don’t have a lot of time for it now – family commitments. I didn’t really wanna offer him anything – because I wouldn’t be able to move such an expensive gaming computer at the store. But he was willing to let go of it at a price that I can afford – not what it is worth – so I’m buying it. I will let you have the specs of the machine – as soon as I get to it – been busy the last few days. Check back soon for real pictures of the Monster of A Computer.

Microsoft 8 Release Date

i’m just only getting used to Windows 7 and everyone had been talking about the release date of Windows 8 for a few months now. Scheduled to be released in 2012 – it is said that a beta version had been out for months now and real folks are in the testing mode and will be released once it had all been tested. Windows 8 is said to combined the desktop, laptop and tablet operating system together – so one can use it on your tablet or your tv at home. Boasting also to be used for gaming machines – thus far no other operating system has done that. Check out the preview below to give you a better idea.

So one can get an Aspire One 10.1 inch for less than $200 new – of course I get to go grab some discount laptop computers and tell all my friends about it. Everyone seems to love the netbooks a lot these days – especially the ladies – I have a mother who bought one from us – and kept sending her friends – to us ever since. Alas , I don’t have any used ones on sale – so when this sale came up at the Source at the mall – I had to tell her about it. It’s not all about making money – it’s about keeping everyone happy. I guess most girls who goes to college – loved having it – because they can go on the net and use their facebook and do their homework on it – and it’s easy to carry. But if you don’t have a Source nearby – you can check their website – and order them online. I doubt they will stay long with such good deals – so make sure you check it out if you were looking for a netbook.

So have you tried the new Google+ yet ? have you been added into a circle yet? I’ve been invited thru’ a gmail by a friend and still testing it out. Too early to tell you much about it – but I can tell you that it’s another social networking tool – like Facebook. So will Google+ get all the fans from Facebook over? maybe – it’s hard to say – as it is – I hear that a lot of people had signed up to check it out. Afterall, it’s free – why not eh.

Mess Management

Yes! that was what the spouse was up to this weekend – mess management or wire management as she had called it. And you can see why she wanted to get cable protectors and plastic cord cover for the counter at the store – she said it was too messy for her liking. She is also buying some cord hog cable organizer for the home as well – since even our telephone wires are long and messy. She plans to use them for our iPod chargers and cellphone chargers.

I don`t mind the mess but she doesn`t like it at all – and she said – it`s not good feng shui too – so I let her do what she wants and buy as many cable organizer as she likes. She can`t wait for the cable organizer to come – and they were pretty good prices too.

12 Gamers For Magic

Last week – we had the most players/gamers for Magic The Gathering – thanks to our trusty acer netbooks we were all able to get our scores recorded. I don’t know why the others bought their netbook – but when I bought my – it was for traveling – since it was so small and easy to carry. Little did I know that for my Magic The Gathering Games – it would come in so handy – I not only use it to record the game – I also use it to look up rules for the games and the value of certain cards that I’m not sure of. Plus gamers trade their cards all the time – with our trusty acer netbooks – we can instantly find out about the value of the card – and do our trading in the gamer’s dungeon. So if you are playing Magic – don’t forget to bring along your acer netbooks.

Rift

Rift seems to be the in game right now – I see a lot of people playing it. So will this be a better game than WOW? Made by TRION and not Blizzard. Graphics seems good enough and the spouse had been playing with some of his friends for a few weeks now. But like all online game – a subscription is required. At this moment, they are charging like $15 a month – a wee bit expensive for my liking.

Vacation For Geeks

So a few buddy of mine wants to go on a vacation together – where the sun and the beach is without the family – only them guys. I suggested the Outer Banks rentals because they have vacation homes by the beach. The rentals shared amongst a few geeks is going to be very affordable – they can bring their own gaming machines or laptops and do whatever they want – minus the destroying the vacation home of course. Full kitchen for cooking or BBQing if they wish and tvs and several bedrooms for everyone – not a bad idea at all I think. Hopefully, they do make it out there – because I’ve seen other people going there for vacation and they really liked it. Let m know if you have gone to the Outer Banks and share some experiences with me and my buddy.

I’m glad that business is slowly getting better for us at the store – a few years ago, we thought we might need to close the store and go out and find jobs – both the spouse and myself. Now that we are seeing an increase in loyal customer, we also need to get a business dashboards to monitor where our sales are – and increase on those things that we are doing better in and not keep so much inventory for those things that are not selling. Although ours is not a big or huge company, business is business and its time we sat down and analyze our business strategy and do better every year. We are definitely keeping our fingers crossed given that the economy here haven’t been the best.

Financing A Computer

We sell computers and console systems at our store – and many a times – I see a customer making cash advance instead of saving up to buy what they need. I love the cash – don’t get me wrong – but you all know that cash advance – should only be made by people who are responsible – else you won’t be able to pay up and that’s not good. I wished I can offer some sort of financing at our store – but we are just a very small business and now with Wells Fargo gone – there isn’t much we can do for those who wants to pay by installment – so many of them go to Easy Home – which in my humble opinion is not that cost savings either. So between cash advance and easy home – I still say – save up for a few months – but if you absolutely cannot lived without the essentials like a washing machine – or cannot pay a power bill – yes! of course – go right ahead and get your cash advance – but other than that – I strongly advised saving up.
