Music Festival & Talented Young Musicians

As I sit and watched the music fest that happened a few months ago in our town – and remembered some young kids doing things and smoking weed like they didn’t care if there were people around – I wished the town would have a better counseling or rehab center for these kids. While heroin detox rehab treatment centers are plenty in Malibu, we don’t have very many in Canada. It is quite sad to see all these talented young musician smoking and taking things that will affect their lives and wasting their talent away but what can you say or do when we don’t even have a rehab or treatment center here in this town to help this young people. And it’s not just the young musicians that we see doing illegal stuff to hurt their health, a lot of young people here are doing weed, heroin and all kinds of substance. I enjoyed the music festival but went home thinking if there was a way to help them – I think of my cousin who passed away 1 year ago – because of the same problem – and I walked back to my car feeling quite helpless. I hear in bigger cities they have more young people on illegal substance – and had we known that my cousin had problems – we would have done something before it was too late.

4mm TV – The TV I Want

Yes, LG has a TV that will be 55 inch wide and 4mm thick and that’s the tv i want. The color is said to be more vibrant – and LG is said to be selling the TV later this year. We don’t know how much it will be – but it won’t be cheap either I assume.

Kurio Tablet Just For Your Kids

A tablet made just for kids and covered with rubber all around it to protect the tablet from being destroyed from dropping it on the ground by your kids. Interesting but the price is not cheap either at about $233 U.S. dollars – would it be better to buy a regular tablet for you kid? or do a parent buy it just because it is quite destroy proof? The tablet will come in 3 sizes – 7 inch, 8 inch and 9 inches and all has a camera attached but only with a 2MP resolution. Battery should last like 6hrs and parents can blocked sites that they don’t want their children to be on. Said to be available for sale in UK in July 2012 – I wonder when it will be available in Canada.

Friends With Benefit

Finally managed to watch this movie – and even though I normally don’t like chick flick – one has gotta do right by the spouse right? before she turns crazy or evil eye on me. Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis stars in this movie and it’s about 2 people of the opposite sex thinking that it will work out as friends only but no relationship to their sex life. Which of course, it wouldn’t work as we all know it. If you have sex with someone – there is no such thing as no complication – but it was a good movie – check out and rent it at our store for only $3 a night.

Wii Guitar For Rock Band

I have just about any kind of guitar for all the game systems except of course the one I need most for a customer. A Wii guitar for rock band never seems to come into our store – and when you need one – it’s even harder. I had a customer who came in to buy a gift for her daughter – and needed the guitar – well, I have everything of course – except the guitar. A month later – she still can’t find it anywhere in town – so she came back to exchange the things she bought – for some games. I really hate to disappoint our customers – but when you are dealing with second hand stuff – you are kind of at the mercy of your sellers. But I’m happy she found what she wants – finally today!

The Help : Movie Review

I wouldn’t want to watch this movie if not for the spouse – who’ve heard from customers that this was a good movie based on a story book. And since we’ve just watched a movie by Emma Stone – on Crazy Stupid Love – another chick flick that the spouse wanted to watch. Anyhow – a review of this movie will be up soon – so check back in a bit because i fell asleep halfway thru’ – will finish watching it this weekend. If you can’t wait – watch the trailer for now – and don’t go downloading it – go rent and original copy or buy one.

Apple TV

Apple TV was first introduced in 2010 and I’ve heard about it – but haven’t given it a lot of thought till this Christmas. Why? I can’t think of anything I want – so when the spouse asked me about Apple TV – I figured I should check it out and see if I should get one too. After all it’s only $99 – definitely affordable. But as I’ve read – it’s not as popular after the first couple of months – because it doesn’t stream from your other devices but only those apps and movies from Apple – or tv shows at $0.99 – now that may not seems a lot at first, but we all know that our tv shows are free here.

So besides watching movies and tv shows thru’ that Apple TV – which you can probably rent from me – at $3 tax included – there isn’t much else you can do. They do provide a almost ipod configuration – for a remote – but besides that – nothing else. Now if it would stream other movies from my computer – that would be totally different altogether – so for now – I’ll stick to my xbox 360 for my movies.

Super 8

This movie is based in 1979 – about a group of kids who got together to be the film makers of the year – and witness some train crash – that was so bad – the train was totally messed up but the kids were fine. Only to find out that there was a huge alien in the train that was let loose. Alien starts killing people – because he was misunderstood and finally the boys helped the alien to get home. A Steven Spielberg’s movie – so you can kinda expect a lot of things that you cannot fathom. Is it a good movie – I wouldn’t say it’s fabulous – but you can watch it.

Yellow Peanut M&M Boombox

I cannot believed that this thing will work – made with recycled material – no batteries needed – is said to be light and you can carry it anywhere you like – and of course – the unique designed used – but not original since it is M & M peanuts candy. But you can plug it into your computer or any ipods or mp3s and it will work great! And it folds too – from what i read. Very cheap at $11.99 – so even if it doesn’t give out the best music – you can still have a talking piece at home. Buy from Merkury Innovations or Zulily.

Geek Birthday

My best friend is turning 40 next week and we all got together – to think of some 40th birthday gifts for him. And since he is such a geek and a gamer – we decided to get a baker to do a birthday cake like the above. Now that was easy – the real gift part was a little harder – but we got a little help from a secret source. The birthday party is set for a certain date – no birthday invitations – just word of mouth – we will be inviting some close friends of his from college and some that grew up with us. And we want them each to get him something from his birthday wish list – that I had compiled for him. Now the tricky part is to get as many computers into his basement – so that we can have a lan game – and someone suggested a bunch of chocolates and snacks as well. Now everyone can use some chocolates that’s for sure – and popcorn and cookies. So we are all set for the geek party – for my best friend 40th birthday.

Wacom Bamboo

It’s not often that we get Sweet 16 Invitations but we did get one recently – and because of that invitation – we are currently looking to get a Wacom Bamboo for the cousin who is turning sweet 16 in a few weeks. We don’t know which model to get – because Wacom has so many right now – to choose from. Many years ago – we had bought a Graphire for an employee – who is very good in drawing and wanted to sell her anime drawings online. The cousin who is turning 16 is also into drawings – and coloring – so we thought a good gift to buy these 16 years old some gadget instead of clothes or jewelry.

It’s not expensive at all – less than $100 – but my biggest beef is I can’t find a genuine review – from someone who has used it for a long time and show me what the tablet – or capture can do. I read a lot of reports on it – and some youtube videos by Wacom itself but besides the drawing and some writing capabilities – I cannot see why one need it unless you need it for drawing pictures that’s all. So does it meant that if you are not good with drawing like myself – it’s no use buying it? Some reviews I read were saying that it was not as sensitive as it should be and it creaks. So anyone out there – who’ve used the Wacom tablet before – please let me know if it is a good buy for just anyone besides one who loves to draw.

A Monster Of A Computer

A customer was in to sell – his very expensive gaming computer – it cost him like $7000 a year to build it – but don’t have a lot of time for it now – family commitments. I didn’t really wanna offer him anything – because I wouldn’t be able to move such an expensive gaming computer at the store. But he was willing to let go of it at a price that I can afford – not what it is worth – so I’m buying it. I will let you have the specs of the machine – as soon as I get to it – been busy the last few days. Check back soon for real pictures of the Monster of A Computer.

Pink iPod Touch

While I have the black iPod touch – and now you can get a white one from our local store in the mall – the kid asked for a pink iPod Touch. When I told her that there is no pink iPod Touch – she wants to know why Apple doesn’t make the iPod Touch in Pink. I think she must be wondering such because she has a ipod nano that is pink in color and she has seen some other ipods in pink – or ipod sleeves that are pink in color. Well, since she is so into pink – it didn’t surprise me that she wanted a pink iPod – so whenever there is one on sale – I bet I would have no choice to get one for the spouse – so that the kid can play with it too. She is very much into angry birds and plays with it everytime she gets her hands on my iPod Touch.
