But so far it seems like all I do is get a mission, finish it, get a mission, finish it.. or get 2 missions, finish them.. repeat. Sell loot, buy a better gun or piece of armor, etc. I guess this is why it’s free to play the original game? Maybe the expansions offer a more rounded play experience? Guess I’ll have to check it out sometime and see. For now, back to my mission.

I first played this about 5 or 6 years ago during my first break from EverQuest. It was different, being a futuristic/alien world sort of setting. The interface was horrid, not user friendly at all, but then again, EQ wasn’t very user friendly in the beginning either, it had taken a few days to get used to that one as well.

But anyway, back to Anarchy. I found out recently that you can play for free now, but are limited to the original game. If you upgrade to any of the expansion packs, then you have to start paying the monthly fee. $14.99 on a monthly basis, or under $8 a month if you pay for a full year. Much better yearly deal than most games offer. I had quit playing before any expansions were released so I downloaded the main game and sure enough, I’m able to play for free on my old characters. Only problem is trying to relearn how to be a level 64 Atrox Soldier, I died a few times rather quickly.

Then I created a new account and started a level 1 Adventurer to mess around with. Turns out you also have access to Notum Wars for free on new accounts, but not on older ones, so I may just stick with the new guy and transfer my credits and equipment over from the old account.

I was surprised to see AO was still around, but in the last 4 years there have been 3 or 4 expansions released and many updates to the game in general. The interface is much better than it used to be, although it still takes some getting used to. Rather than most games’ simple equipment screen, in AO you have 3 pages worth of gear you can equip. Weapons and accessories, basic armors and the third page is implants. If I remember correctly, each implant can contain up to 3 modules, and there are 15 implant slots scattered about the body.
