We are very careful these days when it comes to selling “M” rated games – “M” rated means mature games – that sometimes include violence, nudity and blood/killing. We are careful – not only because it is by law we cannot sell “M” rated games to minor but we cannot in good conscience turn a blind eyes and make the money because we are greedy. Just like doing apidexin reviews reviewers I am sure take them seriously too and like them we don’t want to recommend something that is not suitable.

Integrity is very important in our kind of business – and we are also more vigilant now because the spouse had accidentally sold a copy of War Of World to a 14 yrs old who looked like 17. Little did she know – plus she wasn’t paying attention to the rating – because the kid came in with a purpose – propped the exact amount and left very quickly. It was only a few days later – his mother came online on FB to tell us off – that we were made known of it. But parents should first talk to their kids because kids will be kids – they are rebellious and if they see their friends playing it and you don’t allow it – that he should resort to buying it and tricking the clerk on the counter – then seriously – as parents we should definitely sit our kid down and talk to them – and not call the poor store/clerk names.

We deal with lots of customers everyday – and as hard as we try – if the store is busy – we are only human and we too err. But because of that particular incident – we are on a RED alert. So in a way – we have to thank this unreasonable/irate mom.

After finishing off Final Fantasy XIII I headed to my game shelf to see what I should work on next. I only had a few achievements left to get in Lego Indiana Jones so I blew through those in a couple of hours and then looked again. I settled on Bioshock 2, a game I got on launch day, played a few hours and then forgot about. I was a little put off by it because even though you’re a Big Daddy in the game, the random monsters you encounter can kill you in 4 or 5 hits. That was really lame! Lamer than hooking a PC up to a hi-def TV using an RCA cable when you have a nice VGA cable to use instead. Yeah I don’t know where I was going with that analogy either.

Bioshock 2 is ramping up to be quite nice though after sinking a few more hours into it and finally getting some upgrades. Some of the enemies still wreck my shit completely though and cause me to burn through all my health kits, but at least they are tougher than normal monsters so it makes sense. Having the right ammo for the job makes a huge difference too though, I encountered my first bomb & turret chucking version of the Big Daddy last night, but since I had 2 clips of armor piercing rounds I was able to take it down easily with hardly any damage to myself.

I used to bring my xbox 360 hard drive to work with me from time to time so I’d have access to my library of Rock Band songs available in the store when I had it running on demo. Now I’ve got all my save games and most of my Rock Band songs on a flash drive since the new update a couple months back now allows the use of regular flash drives as memory units. It’s a lot easier than lugging around the whole hard drive, as long as the Xbox I’m plugging in to has been udpated to support it.

Now with the new 360 slim having the HD built in like the PS3, you can’t just easily take it with you anymore so it really is good that they allow the use of flash drives now. I’d like to get one of the new units, but I think I’ll wait a while to see if they have any massive hardware issues like the old versions did.

A crook rented a game from us a month ago and instead of returning it and pay up his lates – he told us that he was going to keep the game for free – since he didn’t want to pay his lates. Today he was online selling our game that he had stolen on a yardsale. Of course, we stopped him – informing everyone that they didn’t belong to him. He had the cheek to call us to say that he called the cops on us???!!!?? the crook who stole from us calling the cops on us – WHAT IS THE WORLD BECOMING?

God damn it Microsoft and Sony, just because everyone went ape shit over the stupid Wii and it’s motion controls doesn’t mean you need to do it too! You know what? I own a Wii, and a 360 and a PS3. The Wii hasn’t been used in months while the 360 and PS3 get used almost daily. Why? Because bullshit motion control is a gimmick and it gets old real fast. It’s not like they really help you lose weight or keep fit in most cases. It just capitalizes on the fact that it’s the “new thing”. Good game play (with a normal CONTROLLER) and good graphics make games far more interesting! New Super Mario Brothers would have been worlds better if it had controlled like the Super Mario World on the SNES. Having to shake the controller to fly and what not is irritating. I won’t buy Natal, I won’t buy that fruity Sony wand, and if the games I like won’t work with a standard controller then I guess I’ll have to upgrade my computer and go back to gaming on that in the future.

The Rock Band Network finally launched a couple weeks ago and already has over 150 songs available from artists both popular and obscure. It seems to be a great service for smaller bands and artists but there’s some pretty big names putting out songs via RBN as well. The biggest news I heard this week, big enough to drag me away from reading fat burner reviews (what? that shit’s pretty funny usually.) is that The Tragically Hip have at least 2 songs coming to Rock Band, finally, I can’t figure out why they never had songs in the game before. But, soon I’ll be able to jam to Blow at High Dough and New Orleans is Sinking. I’ll get both as soon as they’re up for sale and will buy pretty much any Hip song from their first 3 or 4 albums. I’m not much of a fan of their more recent work, but their older stuff is great and I can wait to play it. Now we need some Def Leppard! And Weird Al!

I’ve been playing the game for 8 hours so far, and while it was a little slow starting it’s ramping up to be pretty good. The story, as with most FF games, is getting quite deep and involved and is sure to be one of the best things about the game.

Does nutrisystem work? I have no idea. Does the combat system in FF13 work? Sure does! Honestly, I really really miss the golden days of turn based combat where you have time to think and plan your attacks, but the overall feel and speed of combat in FF13 makes up for the lack of nostalgia. Most of the time I find myself just hitting the auto attack button, but needing to change paradigms several times in each battle keeps it from getting boring. I like that battles aren’t random invisible encounters as well, and it only takes a second or two before and after each battle unlike older games where you had to wait 10 to 15 seconds for the battle to load. Every battle.

Oh and as for which version I went with, definitely PS3 for this game. lensoftruth.com had a head2head posted on release day and it’s very obvious that the PS3 version blows the 360 out of the water. Textures are smoother, cinematics are amazing and shadows are more realistic, to name just a few of the things that make it better on PS3. The 360 had a couple of places where it looks better, mainly with the rendering distance, and if all you own is a 360 then get the game anyway, it will not be disappointing. But if you have both systems and an HD TV then PS3 is the way to go this time around.

I was looking through the weekly flyers a couple days ago and was very surprised to see that at least 2 stores have the Xbox 360 arcade systems on sale for just $129.99 this week (regular price of $199.99). I ran out and bought 2 of them to resell in my own store since normally there’s absolutely no profit in selling console systems. This time however I can actually make enough profit to buy me some tuxedo shoes.. if I wanted some that is. I’ll use the money for better things though, like food, or new games. Yup, it’s good to keep an eye out for sales like that. So anyone in Canada that wants an xbox 360, you’ve got 2 days left to get to Staples or Zellers and pick up a cheapie!

So it’s a no-brainer that I’ll be picking up Final Fantasy XIII next week when it launches, but I still haven’t decided which console to get it for. I love the 360, especially the controller, but I hear the PS3 will have a bit of an edge this time around when it comes to graphics and sound. The PS3 version fits on one disc and is said to be around 38gb in size. The 360, with it’s games still on regular DVDs will require custom tote bags just to carry all the discs. I’m kidding. It’s been compressed to fit on 3 DVDs and totals around 18gb. So they managed to get it to be 20gb smaller than the PS3 version, makes ya wonder how much quality was sacrificed to accomplish this feat. Or maybe they were just lazy on the PS3 version and wanted to leave it huge just to say hey, we’re bigger so that means we’re better!

I might have to wait a couple extra days and see what The Lens of Truth has to report about the differences before I pick this one up. Another factor to consider will be load times. I’ve found the 360 to be much faster with loading than the PS3, especially since I can install games to the hard drive.

I hadn’t played any music games for a couple of weeks and then 2 nights ago I spent a couple hours on Rock Band. The first hour on drums and then another hour on guitar. Was fun, got my ass kicked by the new Megadeth songs. I did OK on some but then for others I couldn’t pass ‘em even by dropping down to hard difficulty. Then the next morning when I woke up the left side of my neck was so stiff and sore I could barely turn my head. What the hell? I thought to myself, but the only thing I did different the day before was playing rock band. Very weird, I can see it maybe help to build muscles when drumming, especially in the right leg, but to give me a sore neck? I can’t figure that out. Maybe I need to adjust the guitar strap to be a bit shorter or something, cause the sore part does seem to be where the strap hangs around my neck.

The graphics are smooth and crisp and the story is looking to be a little twisted like the first one. I’m not sure if I like playing as a Big Daddy though, he seems pretty wimpy early on although I gotta say it’s fun wrecking enemies with the hemorrhoid treatment that is the big ass drill. But nearly dying after 4 or 5 hits from a regular early enemy? That’s got to improve as time passes right?

I picked this game up from Goozex months ago but on my old TV it looked like crap. The text was too small to read comfortably and I could never seem to tell what was going on. Random things on the ground could have been blood splatters, outdoor cushions or small rodents for all I could tell. So, it sat on my shelf for all this time. On the new TV however, it’s all good and I’ve been playing it a couple hours a day for the last week. It’s going to be quite time consuming I figure, I’m only 11.5% through the Shadow campaign after about 12 hours of game play. Granted I’ve been doing a lot of side quests and exploring but that’s half the fun.

Ever since I first saw the cover of Darksiders I’ve wanted to play it. I had no idea what the game was about, I hadn’t seen any screenshots, I didn’t even know what style the game was. RPG? Action? Hack & slash? Didn’t matter, the cover art was just really cool.

But, I’m spoiled since I own my own used game store and I just can’t pay full price for games any more because of it. Luckily I didn’t have to hold out for long as someone traded in a copy for PS3 a couple of days ago and I promptly brought it home to try it out.

So far, it’s good. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is smooth and the sound is awesome. It’s hack & slash through and through and so far it’s everything I had hoped Brutal Legend would be. Don’t get me wrong, Brutal Legend is good and fun, but the RTS portions of it kinda suck.

Anyway, you play as War, one of the four horsemen, and once that sword starts swinging no amount of Medicare supplements are going to save the poor bastards on the business end of it. Demons and angels alike will fall to your blade as you try to find the ones responsible for setting you up and starting a war between heaven & hell that results in the extermination of man-kind.
