Kick Ass is a movie and not some groomsmen gifts with a unique name – LOL! I haven’t seen any review or sneek peek for the show – but the spouse did. So today – we sat down and watched the show – at first i thought it was a kid’s movie – since it was about a kid who wanted to be a super hero – like in his comic books – until i saw Nicholas Cage – as Big Daddy. Of course, Chloe Moretz as Hit girl was pretty awesome too. Anyhow, like any of this kinda show – it’s about fighting the villain and the teenage boys falls in love and so forth. It’s a movie you can watch of course – kinda good – kinda funny – kinda goofy.

I had just written about a game that was rented and not returned to us for over a month. Today a guy came in to scream at us because we had left a message at his mom’s telling him to return our movies that were late for more than 4 weeks else – we were sending him to collections. Instead of apologizing, he said – he wasn’t happy that we called and threatened his mother. First of all, we didn’t threatened anyone – it was a courtesy call – tell him the consequences – secondly he didn’t buy the new movies from us but rented it – it was his duty to bring them back. He assured us that he was returning the other 2 tomorrow – but we have yet to see it and it has been a week. We ain’t calling no one – you take our things – we ruin your credit. Karma can be a real B.I.T.C.H. – maybe he won’t feel the brunt now – but it will come back – i’m pretty sure.

Looking at my system memory, i didn’t think i have enough room in my computer to bring this movie to watch during lunch – so i only managed to see it yesterday night with the spouse. Renee Zellweger was in it and I for one thought it was a chick flick and had hope for one – but it turned out to be a horror show and good enough else the spouse wouldn’t have watched it with me. Rated for violence – so make sure you don’t watch it with your kids – else i’m pretty sure – they will get nightmares. Horror and Thriller was said about the movie and since this is a Canadian/American movie – we definitely had to watch it. My Verdict – definitely a good watch – even though some stuff don’t make much sense. Watch for yourself and you tell me.

Case 39 is an American/Canadian horror film, centering around social worker Emily Jenkin (Renee Zellweger), who is assigned to a mysterious case involving an abused 10-year old girl, Lilith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland). After much investigation, Emily’s suspicions regarding her the Sullivans (Kerry O’ Malley and Callum Keith Rennie) ring true when she finds out that the Sullivans were planning to kill their only daughter.

Old Dogs with Robin Williams and John Travolta was hilarious – we watched it like last week but was too busy to write a review for it. So where it is – because I can’t go to sleep – no matter what I do – some sleeping pills is needed here. Anyhow, I do like the movie – and it’s a family show more than an adult show – so the whole family can enjoy it. Old Dogs is about two good friend who insist on not acting old – being in business for 30 yrs, they each has a unique part in their business and their friendship. Their Manhattan public relations firm is on the verge of a huge business deal with a Japanese company. With two weeks to sew up the contract, Dan gets a surprise: a woman he married on a drunken impulse nearly nine years before (annulled the next day) shows up to tell him he’s the father of her twins, now seven, and she’ll be in jail for 14 days for a political protest. Dan volunteers to keep the kids, although he’s up tight and clueless. Anyhow, it’s a great movie – don’t miss it.

You can’t throw a dead cat in my store without hitting a zombie movie these days, they’re everywhere! Zombieland, Carriers, Zombie Strippers (rotten tits anyone?) no amount of face cream can help those poor gals out. I haven’t had a chance to watch any of the recent ones yet, having a 6 yr old girl in the house puts quite a damper on the horror movie watchin’ time. I think the last zombie flick I watched was 28 Weeks Later, and that’s been out on DVD for quite some time now! Zombie games on the other hand.. well, actually those are a dime a dozen now too but at least I do find time to play a bit when the kid gone to bed.

I’m firmly in the ‘horrible’ camp. The pacing was so slow it reminded me of Ballistic: Ecks Vs. Sever, which was the slowest action movie I’ve ever seen. They both had potential but ended up sucking so bad I wish I hadn’t wasted my time on them. And then came the ending, finally, and I was like ‘what the fuck!?’ Was he even trying to catch the killer? He just sits there talking about dreams and that’s it. Grrr.

Guns galore, crazy stunts and bullets flying almost non-stop in this hard to swallow plot revolving around a baby that must be protected by a carrot obsessed gunman. But this is a movie, not real life, so if some dude wants to crash headon and fly through the windshield of his car, through the windshield of the van he hit, land comfortably in the back of said van and then proceed to shoot all 6 occupants of the van, then Hollywood can make it happen.

It’s a fun flick overall though, and I’ve gotta say, that’s the first time I’ve seen someone killed with a carrot through the eye socket. Clive Owen, Monica Belluci and Paul Giamatti star in this silly, explosion filled romp. Go see it, it’s fun as long as you’re not expecting any amount of realism.

A few years back I had downloaded this little animated short movie simply called Killer Bean 2. I didn’t know where it came from and the name Jeff Lew didn’t ring any bells, but it was pretty cool. I figured it was just some college kid’s animation project, there were a lot of those going around at the time. Imagine my surprise today when I saw a trailer for Killer Bean Forever, an actual full length movie. As it turns out, Jeff Lew was the lead animation director for The Matrix Reloaded, which does a lot to explain the quality of these short videos. Check it out, I don’t know when the feature film is coming, but it’ll definitely be worth a watch.

Movies don’t have to come from Hollywood in order to be good or make a lot of money. There have been lots of small Indie films that turned out great and had quite a cult following. Clerks and the Blair Witch Project are two that come to mind which were extremely low budget movies that were very entertaining to watch.

Red Scream Films LLC is a new film company focusing on independant horror films. They believe that movies should be as original as possible, not just re-hashes of previously successful films. I must say I agree with this thinking and I’d much rather watch a FrightWorld over a Saw VIII any day. Red Scream has several projects in development including Vampyres, FrightWorld, Blind and Terminal Descent.

Their first release, Prison of the Psychotic Damned, has been available on DVD since July 2007 and can be picked up most anywhere, including amazon.com.

Just saw a trailer for a new movie by J.J. Abrams slated to hit theaters on January 18, 2008. 1-18-08. It looks awesome and I really hope it doesn’t turn out sucking. Good old viral marketing is playing a huge part with this flick though. The trailer starts out looking like a typical teen party movie, but then the power flickers, the building shakes and there’s a loud rumble. The kids see on the news that it’s a possible earthquake, but then the rumble comes again and it sounds like the scream/roar of a monster of some kind. An explosion like a bomb going off can be seen in the distance and then the trailer ends with the statue of liberty’s head flying through the air and crashing into the street near them. Check out the trailer!

A bit of searching has found these related websites:

www.1-18-08.com A single web page with 5 pictures. The pictures are movable, just click and drag them. They can be rotated and even flipped over. It’s really cool and reminded me of the way that surface computing demo was showing off picture manipulation. To flip the pictures just drag in one direction and then jerk the mouse the opposite way and let go of the button.

www.slusho.jp I’m not sure how this is connected aside from Paramount shooting scenes for a movie called ’slusho’ that seems to fit the theme of this untitled flick.

www.ethanhaaswasright.com This one contains a strange sort of puzzle. After doing the memory test part of it, we are treated to a video clip. The next part I haven’t completed yet.

ethanhaaswaswrong.blogspot.com A blog in a foreign language.

cloverfieldcracked.blogspot.com A blog by someone who thinks the answer lies in Revelations 18:08.

ethanhaas.org Yet another website with a bunch of links at the bottom. I’m getting bored with this already… just show us the damn movie!

A little more reading into it and I’m not sure if Ethan Haas is connected to this movie or to a game called Alpha Omega. Or both.

I fear they’ve started the hype a little early though, since the movie doesn’t come out for another 6 months. Remember back when Jurassic Park first came out? There was so much hype over it that by the time it released I didn’t care anymore. It was about a year before I even bothered to watch it, and while it turned out to be a good monster movie, the hype killed it for me. Here’s to hoping that doesn’t happen with this one!

Watched Premonition last night and overall I liked it, but part of it did piss me off. No, it wasn’t the ending. I liked the irony of her trying to save her husband but in the end it’s her fault for making him turn the car around. Well, not entirely her fault, he was an idiot for making a U-Turn at a blind spot on a hill. Dipshit.

The part that pissed me off is that she knew her daughter was going to go crashing through a glass window and get her face all sliced up. Then when she ended up ‘back in time’ on Sunday, she didn’t do a damn thing about the window! WTF is up with that!?

Swedish Chef, Gonzo, Kermit… the 2 old guys in the balcony, there were so many awesome characters and on top of it they had weekly celebrity guest stars.
