Movie Gallery Closing Here Too?

I’ve heard rumors lately that Movie Gallery here in Canada may not be doing too well either despite saying that their Canadian operations will be unaffected by their US stores ALL closing. The one here in town has apparently not had any new releases in the last month. Tonight I called them to see if they had Alice in Wonderland or Wolfman in and they hadn’t even received either movie so far. It must suck for the employees, I’m sure they have to deal with a lot of customers on a daily basis who want to know why the new releases aren’t in yet after so long! Sell that store some diet pills, it’s shrinking time! Oh wait, it’s shrinking on it’s own! Can’t way for the going out of business sale to kick in, I’ll be snagging up all kinds of cheap movies to put on my own rental wall >=)

Listen To ESPN On iPhone

Wanna listen to sports like ESPN while you are traveling home from work in an hour’s long ride on the train..?? I would need appetite suppressant to keep me from munching on junks. But now you can keep yourself occupied because ESPN has launched a new application for the iPhone, ESPN Radio, which is now available on the App Store. As the name implies, the application will give you access to audio streams of ESPN content including popular shows, station streams, play-by-play broadcasts, podcasts and SportsCenter updates which are uploaded every 20 minutes.

New Store Opening down the Street

I see they’ve been doing some renovation work on one of the empty stores near where I work, but for the longest time there were no signs up to indicate what was going to be moving in. Earlier in the week when I had to go to the bank I saw they finally had a sign up. Shh… Don’t Tell is the name and it appears that sexy undergarments such as bridal lingerie and adult novelties is what they’re all about. It should be open soon if they plan to grab some of the Christmas rush money.

Competition Closing?

I heard rumor today that one of the other little video stores in town is closing up. The source isn’t the most reliable when it comes to rumors however, so I’ll just have to go do some snooping of my own to see if there’s any truth to it. If it does close up that would just leave Movie Gallery and one other independent store. With all the trouble Movie Gallery has been in lately with the bankruptcy and store closings, I can only hope that this one goes down too. Most of the closures seem to be in the states though, and they are fighting to keep in business one way or another, so with my luck this will be one of the last stores to go.

iPhone Coming to Canada

Rogers Wireless is soon going to be releasing the IPhone in Canada, this is great news for those who have been waiting (im)patiently for it’s release since it was originally only available through AT&T in the US. Hackers of course unlocked the phone long ago, but Apple has been releasing updates to foil those attempts ever since. So if you’re a Canuck and don’t want the hassle of unlocking, you’ll soon be able to get this little marvel the way Apple intended.

Medina Management Rumors

Rumor has it that Medina Management Strategies may be getting into the Italian dessert business. Medina is alledgedly looking to add San Gelato to the list of franchises that it offers employee and management services too, joining the likes of Cuppy’s Coffee, Planet Wings and Specialty Coffee Co-op. To sit still in business is to grow stagnant and die, so it makes sense that Medina Management Strategies would be looking to expand and build on their current client base. Could Gelato really be the next big thing in franchises? I honestly don’t know since I’ve never tried it before but I do hear it’s good stuff.
