So it was 24 Season 8 Finale a few days ago – that I’ve watched – and thought to myself – mann! Jack Baur need some acne scar removal – hahah! so yes ! once again – Jack Bauer’s didn’t die – even though he was shot and stabbed. Normally, anyone else would have been dead – paralyzed or disfigured – you get the drift right. But nope – not Jack Bauer – he is invincible ! Now if only United States has got an agent – like Jack Baur – US would be pretty safe eh. Anyhow – the end of 24 Season 8 wasn’t much different from what i had expected – but it was kinda sad. So it’s really the finale – no more Jack Baur next year.

Well, all good things must come to an end right – plus I know that this season was a tough one to make with Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) – always in some kind of trouble – so maybe it was time for everyone to give it a break. I wonder what Kiefer Sutherland would do now – i can’t see him in any other thing than 24 – but he was in that movie – The Stepfather – which wasn’t too, too bad. So movies now? we’ll see.

So we just bought a netbook with Windows 7 Starter on it – we are so used to our Windows Vista in our old netbook – we find that the Starter comes with limitations. You see you can’t even change it’s wallpaper for one and you can only run concurrent applications on a PC at a time (this excludes background processes such as anti-virus applications, wireless and Bluetooth, and system tools like Explorer and Control Panel). So yes – i don’t know what we are planning to do with it – but i’m stopping my rant here to run out and get some natural prenatal vitamins for my best friend. But an upgrade is most likely to happen anytime soon – i’m going to have to read up more on it.

Looking at my system memory, i didn’t think i have enough room in my computer to bring this movie to watch during lunch – so i only managed to see it yesterday night with the spouse. Renee Zellweger was in it and I for one thought it was a chick flick and had hope for one – but it turned out to be a horror show and good enough else the spouse wouldn’t have watched it with me. Rated for violence – so make sure you don’t watch it with your kids – else i’m pretty sure – they will get nightmares. Horror and Thriller was said about the movie and since this is a Canadian/American movie – we definitely had to watch it. My Verdict – definitely a good watch – even though some stuff don’t make much sense. Watch for yourself and you tell me.

Case 39 is an American/Canadian horror film, centering around social worker Emily Jenkin (Renee Zellweger), who is assigned to a mysterious case involving an abused 10-year old girl, Lilith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland). After much investigation, Emily’s suspicions regarding her the Sullivans (Kerry O’ Malley and Callum Keith Rennie) ring true when she finds out that the Sullivans were planning to kill their only daughter.

Old Dogs with Robin Williams and John Travolta was hilarious – we watched it like last week but was too busy to write a review for it. So where it is – because I can’t go to sleep – no matter what I do – some sleeping pills is needed here. Anyhow, I do like the movie – and it’s a family show more than an adult show – so the whole family can enjoy it. Old Dogs is about two good friend who insist on not acting old – being in business for 30 yrs, they each has a unique part in their business and their friendship. Their Manhattan public relations firm is on the verge of a huge business deal with a Japanese company. With two weeks to sew up the contract, Dan gets a surprise: a woman he married on a drunken impulse nearly nine years before (annulled the next day) shows up to tell him he’s the father of her twins, now seven, and she’ll be in jail for 14 days for a political protest. Dan volunteers to keep the kids, although he’s up tight and clueless. Anyhow, it’s a great movie – don’t miss it.

I’ve been playing the game for 8 hours so far, and while it was a little slow starting it’s ramping up to be pretty good. The story, as with most FF games, is getting quite deep and involved and is sure to be one of the best things about the game.

Does nutrisystem work? I have no idea. Does the combat system in FF13 work? Sure does! Honestly, I really really miss the golden days of turn based combat where you have time to think and plan your attacks, but the overall feel and speed of combat in FF13 makes up for the lack of nostalgia. Most of the time I find myself just hitting the auto attack button, but needing to change paradigms several times in each battle keeps it from getting boring. I like that battles aren’t random invisible encounters as well, and it only takes a second or two before and after each battle unlike older games where you had to wait 10 to 15 seconds for the battle to load. Every battle.

Oh and as for which version I went with, definitely PS3 for this game. lensoftruth.com had a head2head posted on release day and it’s very obvious that the PS3 version blows the 360 out of the water. Textures are smoother, cinematics are amazing and shadows are more realistic, to name just a few of the things that make it better on PS3. The 360 had a couple of places where it looks better, mainly with the rendering distance, and if all you own is a 360 then get the game anyway, it will not be disappointing. But if you have both systems and an HD TV then PS3 is the way to go this time around.

Every Tuesday or when I remember, I head over to The Escapist Magazine to check out the new review by Yahtzee (Zero Punctuation). Once a week he reviews a video game and typically rips it apart, but in a good way. They are very entertaining and in some cases have even gotten the attention of the various people responsible for creating the game. He rarely has many good things to say about the games he reviews, but lots of criticism and negativity. While part of me screams ‘you want some cheese to go with your wine of the month club offerings’, oops wrong whine but my point remains. The rest of me laughs it’s ass off however because they’re just that good (the reviews). Check it out for yourself, here’s his review of Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii.

If you’re the type that always forgets to return your rentals on time, then Gamefly is worth looking into. Similar to what Netflix does for movies, Gamefly is all about the games. You can try the serivce out for free or start a subscription starting at just $8.95 for your first month ($15.95 regular price). Choose from over 5000 game titles which will be sent to you to play for as long as you want. When you’re finished with a game you send it back to Gamefly and they’ll send you something else from your wishlist.

Shipping the games to and fro is covered as part of your monthly subscription. $8.95 ($15.95 after the first month) allows you to have one game at a time while $12.95 ($22.95 after the first month) allows 2 rentals at a time. That would be a better option if you ask me, so you can alternate your shipments and never be stuck without something to play. Compare that to the weekly rentals at the local video stores, typically $8 to $10 a week per game, and you’ll see that the savings really add up. The trial allows you to have 2 games out for 10 days to see if you like the service.

If you like video games and also like to win prizes then you should check out Prize Match GameQuest. It’s very easy to register and win! Fill in your name and address to create an account, then you are given 100 free spins on the Money Wheel, every day. Pick your own 5 numbers or use the built-in Quick Pick to have 5 numbers picked randly for you, then click on Win to see if any of your numbers match.

Prizes on the money wheel range from 10 points to 5,000 points, as well as gift cards worth $25 and $250 and the grand prize for matching all 5 numbers is a Jackpot that is currently worth over a million bucks! I could sure put that to good use and since it’s free to play it’s well worth the time investment. To pass the time while burning through your 100 spins, they show trailers for upcoming games and movies.

So, what are the points for? You can cash them in to get gift cards or free video games. Currently there are 20 games to choose from, a few each for all the current gaming systems. PS2, PS3, XB, XB360, Wii and PSP. You’ll have to save up 25,000 points for each of these prizes though, so it’s not something you can do in just a day or two unless you get really lucky with the Money Wheel.

I’ve sent a bouquet and gift basket to my Queen, Antonia Bayle. The card reads as follows: “I’m sorry Antonia, I’ve betrayed you. I didn’t mean to leave… alright, yes, I meant to. It was nothing personal though, I just wanted to see what the other side of the world had to offer. I’ll be back again someday though, Lord Lucan rules this land through fear and intimidation. Rules I can’t live by for long. I am doing what I can to subvert his plans but I am beginning to draw unwanted attention. There is a darkness growing within me, I care less and less about doing the right thing. I must finish my tasks and leave this place quickly. Someday soon I will return to your fair city, but until then, please enjoy these roses and this basket of oranges.”

Well, ok, you got me. I can’t really send flowers to fictional game characters in Norrath using Flora2000. Back here in the real world though, Flora2000 can send flowers to 150 countries around the world. From Algeria to Zimbabwe, they’ve got you and your loved ones covered. Flora2000 guarantees your satisfaction and that your flowers will arrive on time, almost anywhere in the world! If flowers alone aren’t enough, you can also choose to send that special someone a gourmet gift basket along with their bouquet. It’s as simple as logging in to their website, choosing the country to send to and then the flowers/baskets you want to send. Everything is done online, quick and easy!

Movies don’t have to come from Hollywood in order to be good or make a lot of money. There have been lots of small Indie films that turned out great and had quite a cult following. Clerks and the Blair Witch Project are two that come to mind which were extremely low budget movies that were very entertaining to watch.

Red Scream Films LLC is a new film company focusing on independant horror films. They believe that movies should be as original as possible, not just re-hashes of previously successful films. I must say I agree with this thinking and I’d much rather watch a FrightWorld over a Saw VIII any day. Red Scream has several projects in development including Vampyres, FrightWorld, Blind and Terminal Descent.

Their first release, Prison of the Psychotic Damned, has been available on DVD since July 2007 and can be picked up most anywhere, including amazon.com.

With all the scares lately regarding toys and other items made in China (supposedly containing lead and other chemicals), it makes a good case for switching to and sticking with organic items. Bedding made from Coyuchi organic cotton is safe and durable. Being in Canada, we tend to have a lot of cold weather and nothing beats cotton flannel sheets for warmth and comfort.

Dax Stores carries a huge selection of household items inluding bedding, curtains, indoor & outdoor furniture and even toys for the kids. All made using safe materials that are good for your family and for the environment. They also offer free shipping on orders over $100 (excluding large furniture items) which is a very nice bonus.

Any time I travel to a new place I like to check with friends in the area to find the best places to eat or shop, tourist attractions and so on. I was lucky enough to spend 5 weeks in Asia a few years ago and for my next vacation I’d like to go somewhere else, maybe London, or some place down south as long as it’s not hurricane season. I like safe places.

trustedplaces.com provides consumer written reviews and recommendations on things like London restaurants, cafes, bars, hotels and so on which is a good help in deciding where to go.

A fairly new company in the paid blogging world is Smorty. Advertisers can create an account with Smorty and then pay bloggers (like me) to write sponsored reviews for them. These reviews can be about nearly anything covering topics from cell phones to web-hosting services. Even though I’ll be paid to write some of the posts from now on, I’ll still be giving my honest opinion on the subject at hand. I won’t be promoting anything that I don’t agree with.

Bloggers can earn money from Smorty simply by signing up and submitting their blog. Once the blog is approved, when you log in there will be assignments listed on the right-hand side of the home page that you can choose from. If there’s nothing interesting, just check back later, assignments change regularly. The more you blog with Smorty the better it gets!

If you blog, then why not get get paid for blogging? I don’t expect to get rich from it, but if it can help me pay for some computer upgrades once in a while then I’m all for it =)
